Valencia Basket's EuroLeague winning streak comes to an end in Madrid (96-79)
J31 EuroLeague
Valencia Basket's EuroLeague winning streak was snapped with a 96-79 defeat at the hands of the competition's best home team, Real Madrid. They couldn't withstand the surge of pressure from the Madrid side between the end of the second and the beginning of the third quarters, which kept the game close, as it had been in the first fifteen minutes. However, they found themselves trailing by as many as 19 points by the 25th minute. Pedro Martínez's men tried to fight back, cutting the deficit to 10 points with 10 minutes remaining, but Real Madrid's three-pointers kept falling, widening the gap once again and leaving Valencia with no chance of victory. In the final stages, they couldn't close the gap enough to defend their head-to-head tiebreaker.
Quotes Pedro Martínez
“I think they played a good game, that’s the first thing to say. They got open shots, and on some occasions we should have been closer. We had a lot of trouble scoring on offense.”
